Welcome to our company - Acorex Wine Holding S.A.

Our company was established in 1994 (shortly after the collapse of the USSR) and has always had a pioneering spirit.   In the past 12 years we have become a recognized leader in the production of top class wines.   We have invested heavily in vineyards, technology and professional expertise.

Our vineyards maintain the highest standards and we have received SGS Organic Certification.   Our wine production facility is equipped with the latest technology and we have a production capacity of 50 million bottles per year.   Our premium wines are aged in French Oak and receive further ageing in bottle prior to release.   Our Italian Oenologist ensures the international style of our wines, producing clean, crisp, aromatic white wines and rich, robust, flavoursome reds.

Achievements

Each year we enter our wines in top International Wine Competitions and each year we are heartened and encouraged by the recognition we receive.   To date we have received more than 180 medals.

Moldova

The love of wine is an integral part of Moldovan history and culture.   Our mixed heritage combined with our Russian influences have created a unique attitude towards wine and whilst the Russian Tsars were enjoying Moldovan wine at their banquets for centuries, in Moldova, we were enjoying wine at the table, along with good food and company.   In fact we have a saying…..Hai Narok…which sums up our attitude to life in general.   It is filled with meaning and when expressed at the beginning of a meal, with good wine it conveys wishes of good eating, good drinking, good health, happiness, enjoyment and contentment.   It is a true expression of our Moldovan temperament and our love of sensuous pleasures.

It is also interesting that historically, we have a strong connection with both Greek and Roman culture.   Recently discovered fossils prove that winemaking in Moldova goes back to 2800 B.C.   Greeks, who settled on the coast of the Black Sea in the third century BC had an impact on the development of viticulture and vinification.   The Romans also exerted their influence when Southern Moldova was part of the Roman Empire during the reign of Emperor Traianus.

We share the same line of latitude with Burgundy (47 degrees north of the Equator) and we also share their integral understanding of the concept of ‘Terroir’. Our Continental Climate (gently influenced by the Black Sea), which provides short, relatively mild winters and long hot summers, our specific soil and our noble grape varieties, combine to produce truly outstanding wines.

Amaro de la Valea Perjei

amaro.jpg     We take great pride in our iconic wine – Amaro.

This wine is created from carefully selected grapes from vineyards in the micro-zones of Valea Roman and Valea Perjei. The production of this wine is identical to that of Amarone della Valpolicella.   The grapes are dried for three to four months during which time they lose 30% of their initial weight.   This leads to increased aromatic substances and tannin enrichment, as well as increased sugar levels of 26% to 28%.   Amaro de la Valea Perjei is made from 70% Bastardo-Magaraci, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.   It has an intense deep ruby colour and powerful, complex aromas of ripe fruits, prunes, morocco, vanilla and spices which follow through on the palate.   It is a rich, powerful, velvety wine with excellent body.
